Non-surgical body shaping treatments are a rapidly changing segment of the health industry. I've tried several of the techniques available, including Endermologie, contour wraps, radio frequency treatments, and Venus Legacy, just to name a few. I love how these techniques can be used to smooth, tone, and tighten your body without invasive surgeries. However, there are some misconceptions and myths surrounding these techniques and their benefits. Let's take a look at a few of them.
Liposuction is the same as body contouring and weight loss
Liposuction is not an alternative to weight loss. It's a clinical procedure that removes certain types of fat from your body. I've seen how it minimizes fat in just isolated areas. Weight loss reduces your overall body fat content.
Likewise, I've seen body contouring and it is not the same as liposuction. Body contouring is often done on patients that are already a healthy weight, achieved through diet and exercise.
Body contouring hurts
Not in today's market. I've tried these non-surgical body shaping treatments and had little to no pain or discomfort. Body wrapping, Venus Legacy, and many other options are highly effective contouring treatments with minimal pain.
My treatments have taken between 30-60 minutes, and after a procedure, I have some mild redness. That is the only adverse sign of the treatment.
Body shaping rids you of cellulite forever
If only it were that easy. Cellulite is not always the result of excess fat. Body shaping has relieved me of cellulite I have had in my body, but as I lose and gain weight in the future, it's very possible cellulite will come back.
Body contouring prevents future weight gain
These procedures do not stop people from gaining weight in the future. Body shaping reshapes the body. It defines stubborn areas. Treatments remove or shrink fat cells in the target area, but not throughout the body. The remaining cells will grow with weight gain. Body shaping is not a replacement for diet and exercise, but rather a complimentary service. Paired with diet and exercise, body shaping can shrink fat cells. It has helped me look my best.
Body Shaping only works on certain skin types
Completely false. Radio frequency treatments, as well as all treatments, produce the same results on all skin types and all skin tones. These treatments absolutely work on all skin types, as they are working to shrink the fat below the skin and not focused on the skin itself, although I noticed that there were some benefits to my skin as well.
Results are temporary
Results from treatment vary from patient to patient and are directly related to how a person takes care of themselves after the treatment. People who keep a healthy lifestyle, maintaining their diet and exercise programs, have longer-lasting results. My results have been amazing so far, and have lasted longer than I expected them to.
Only surgical procedures can be effective
This myth came about because body shaping is noninvasive and people believed that only invasive surgery could be helpful. The truth is there are many beneficial non-surgical treatments that can give fantastic results.
Non-surgical treatments have come under the microscope previously, but they have undergone years of study, documenting real results. In each study, results have been proven. By watching diet and exercise after a procedure, results can be extended.
Body shaping is too expensive
There is such a variety of treatments available today that I have always been able to stay within my budget at any given time. Treatments are priced based on the size of the area, the number of sessions that a person will be undergoing, and the type of results wanted. Body contouring no longer costs thousands of dollars as it did in the past. I was able to set up a payment plan for some of my treatments, so check with your provider.
